FULLY FUNDED FOUR-YEAR (4-YEAR) COMPETITIVE International Partnership PhD award for successful HOME or INTERNATIONAL applicants to specified 2027/28 biology/medicine/health research projects, including Ghanaian applicants where eligible. Covers PHD TUITION FEES and ANNUAL MAINTENANCE STIPEND at current UKRI rate. Includes £5,000 PER YEAR Research Training Support Grant (RTSG) for eligible RESEARCH/TRAINING COSTS, which is NOT an extra unconditional personal living allowance; plus £1,000 CONTRIBUTION TO POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH TRAVEL COSTS. Candidates spend time at Manchester and an INTERNATIONAL PARTNER RESEARCH UNIVERSITY under their awarded project's collaboration, with that placement supported through the studentship. 2026/27 partner names on the page do NOT confirm 2027/28 partners. IMPORTANT OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS: Manchester explicitly says award recipients pay their own RELOCATION COSTS and associated VISAS and UK IMMIGRATION HEALTH SURCHARGE. No blanket individual allowance for insurance, flights to/from home country, personal accommodation as separate benefit, and application fee has been verified. The grant and contribution are not guaranteed to cover all personal travel expenses. Funding is won competitively, NOT guaranteed merely through admission or applying. Schedule
UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP PHD STUDENTSHIPS — 2027/28 INTAKE: AS OF 19 OCTOBER 2026, APPLICATIONS ARE OPENING SOON, NOT OPEN. 2027/28 PROJECT CATALOGUE ANNOUNCEMENT AND FORMAL APPLICATION OPENING: MONDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2026, according to the official Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health International Partnership PhD page. The 2027/28 APPROVED project catalogue is NOT YET LIVE as of 19 October. Do not describe 2026/27 partner universities or historic projects as guaranteed options for 2027/28. CLOSING DATE: FRIDAY 11 DECEMBER 2026. The official university page does not publish an exact closing CLOCK TIME or timezone for this competition: do not invent 23:59 GMT or midnight. Advise early submission. INTERVIEWS: Week beginning MONDAY 22 FEBRUARY 2027. STUDENTSHIPS AWARDED: Week beginning MONDAY 8 MARCH 2027. EXPECTED RESEARCH START: OCTOBER 2027. IMPORTANT PROVIDER CONTENT DISCREPANCY: The same page's “Key dates” heading currently reads “Dates for 2026 entry”, despite specifying projects/applications opening in November 2026, interviews and awards in February/March 2027, and scholarships commencing October 2027. The online APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS still say “Entry year: 2026/27” and “Intake: September”, in tension with 2027/28 recruitment/October 2027 start. These appear to be stale instructions: students should verify the exact 2027/28 entry-year and intake choices with the University's Doctoral Academy or their prospective supervisor after the application opens; do NOT follow the 2026/27 year blindly or invent what the live 2027/28 dropdown will say.
